About the Mystic Milonga

What would you think about staying for two more days of fun, dance, and sightseeing after the weekend of Mountain Milonga Retreat is over? Monday + Tuesday Aug 11/12?

What would you think about soaking in natural hot springs under the stars, sleeping in a refurbished vintage school bus in the shadow of a mountain range, and hiking between the brightly colored hoodoos of Bryce Canyon, and into the tight slot canyons and to the outlandish mushroom rocks of Zion National Park?

We booked two painstakingly restored XIX c. cowboy log cabins and, yes, the one-of-a-kind Nature Bus (pictured above) at Mystic Hot Springs, A weird and enchanted place in just 2 and half hours drive South from Salt Lake). The arrangement comes with an evening of tango in a rented town pavilion with its dance-tested painted concrete floor, a grill dinner party, and of course unlimited soaking in the pools and oversize tubs of Mystic. We also tour Fremont Indian rock art on Monday.

From our base in Mystic, Bryce and Zyon National Parks are less than two hours away, so we should be able to see all the amazing sights on Tuesday, before calling the extended weekend over. Please take a look at the draft schedule and feel free to comment & ask questions.

To sign up now, I just need your deposit of $45 to cover reservations of lodging and city park, and food. The final total cost will be calculated after we divvy up the beds at Mystic ($10 extra for log cabin lodging) and the seats in the cars, and split the carpooling costs and the park passes costs.
So please also let us know if you want to bring your own vehicle and how many people can it fit, if you have an interagency annual National Park pass, if you are looking for a bed for two or a bed for one, and if log cabin’s preferred. We will calculate fair carpooling expenses and finalize the trip, closing the registration when we get 4 cars full of people.

At the moment, logistics of cars and cabins is as follows:

Cars:

One van returning to Salt Lake may still have 1-2 seats

One car (3 people) going straight to South California

One car (2 people) going straight to South Arizona

Possibly one car going on I-70 to Denver area

Possibly one car going towards ABQ, NM

Beds:

Nature Bus – 1 queen, 2 twin beds

Small cabin – dbl and queen

Large cabin – two queens (one of them in the attic accessible by step-ladder)
Sleeping bags and mats – yes, if we overflow, then at least two more people may be accommodated this way, too.
Tent camping area – please inquire if interested, as it may still be a good idea to reserve a campground space at Mystic ahead of time
